Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a light-colored saucepan, melt ½ cup of unsalted butter over medium heat, stirring frequently for about 5-7 minutes until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled brown butter, ½ cup granulated sugar, and ½ cup light brown sugar, mixing until creamy.
- Incorporate 1 egg into the mixture, blend well, then gradually add 1 cup of all-purpose flour, followed by stirring in ½ cup of chocolate chips.
- In a heat-proof bowl, melt 4 ounces of bittersweet chocolate with ¼ cup of unsalted butter and whisk in ½ cup of granulated sugar and 1 egg.
- Gradually fold in ⅓ cup of all-purpose flour until just combined.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8"x8" baking pan. Pour ⅓ of the brownie batter, then dollop the cookie dough on top. Repeat.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden edges and soft center, using foil if edges brown too fast.
- Let cool for 10 minutes at room temperature and transfer to a wire rack or leave in the pan to cool completely.
