Step-by-Step Instructions for Easter Trifle Dessert
  1. Preheat your oven according to the cake mix package instructions, usually around 350°F (175°C). Prepare the cake batter in a mixing bowl using the cake mix and water, adding food coloring for a playful touch if desired. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely on a wire rack.
  2. While the cake cools, follow the package directions to prepare the vanilla pudding. Whisk the pudding mix with cold milk in a bowl for about 2 minutes until thickened. Set the pudding aside in the refrigerator.
  3. Grab half of the Cool Whip from the container and place it in a mixing bowl. Mix in a couple of drops of food coloring until you achieve your desired hue.
  4. In a large trifle bowl or individual serving glasses, begin layering your Easter Trifle by breaking the cooled cake into small pieces. Add the first layer at the bottom, followed by a generous layer of prepared vanilla pudding, then a layer of the colored Cool Whip. Repeat layers ensuring the top layer is Cool Whip.
  5. Top the trifle with your choice of festive candies and sprinkles. Add cute Peeps or other favorite treats on top.
