Step-by-Step Instructions for Easter Trifle Dessert
- Preheat your oven according to the cake mix package instructions, usually around 350°F (175°C). Prepare the cake batter in a mixing bowl using the cake mix and water, adding food coloring for a playful touch if desired. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely on a wire rack.
- While the cake cools, follow the package directions to prepare the vanilla pudding. Whisk the pudding mix with cold milk in a bowl for about 2 minutes until thickened. Set the pudding aside in the refrigerator.
- Grab half of the Cool Whip from the container and place it in a mixing bowl. Mix in a couple of drops of food coloring until you achieve your desired hue.
- In a large trifle bowl or individual serving glasses, begin layering your Easter Trifle by breaking the cooled cake into small pieces. Add the first layer at the bottom, followed by a generous layer of prepared vanilla pudding, then a layer of the colored Cool Whip. Repeat layers ensuring the top layer is Cool Whip.
- Top the trifle with your choice of festive candies and sprinkles. Add cute Peeps or other favorite treats on top.
