  • 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese Low-fat cheese is a healthier substitute.
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese Nutritional yeast can work as a vegan option.
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Gluten-free breadcrumbs are available.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Melted butter can be used if preferred.
  • 1 cup Fresh Basil Dried basil works if fresh isn't available.

Method
 

Directions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Gather all ingredients.
  2. In a large bowl, mix chicken, marinara sauce, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and penne pasta until well combined.
  3. Spread half of the chicken mixture in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Repeat with remaining mixture and cheeses.
  4. In a small bowl, combine breadcrumbs with olive oil until lightly coated. Sprinkle over the top layer of cheese.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Broil for an additional 2-3 minutes for extra crispiness if desired.
  6. Remove from oven and let it sit for 5 minutes before slicing.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
