  • 1 cup cashews soaked
  • 1 can green chilies canned version recommended
  • 1/4 cup pickled jalapenos store-bought or homemade
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice or fresh lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast for cheesy flavor
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder adjust to taste
  • 1/2 cup almond milk or unsweetened plant-based milk
Optional Add-Ins
  • to taste fresh herbs like cilantro or chives
  • to taste extra spices like hot sauce or cayenne

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Soak cashews in water for 6-8 hours or in boiling water for 20-30 minutes.
  2. Drain the cashews and place them in a high-speed blender with the remaining ingredients.
  3. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as necessary.
  4. Taste and season with salt gradually, starting with ½ teaspoon, and blend again until well combined.
  5. Transfer leftover sauce to an airtight container for storage.
