Method
 

Cake Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth. Combine with dry ingredients gently.
  4. Stir in hot coffee or water until the batter is smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35–40 minutes.
  6. Let the cake cool completely on a wire rack.
  7. For the frosting, beat butter until creamy, then add cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy cream until smooth.
  8. Frost the cooled cake and enjoy!
