Step-by-Step Instructions
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers, about 1-2 minutes. Add 4 cloves of minced garlic and 2-3 chopped Thai bird's eye chilies. Stir for about 30 seconds.
- Add 1 pound of ground chicken, pork, or beef to the pan. Stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until fully cooked and browned.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of fish sauce, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Mix well and let flavors meld for about 2 minutes.
- Pour in 1/4 cup of chicken broth or water, stirring to combine. Allow to simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
- If using, slice the small onion and add it. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until softened. Stir in 1 cup of Thai holy basil leaves until just wilted.
- Serve over jasmine rice. Top with a fried egg if desired.
