Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 1/4 cup Sugar Provides sweetness; use less for a less sweet roll.
  • 2 teaspoons Ground Cardamom Adds warm, aromatic flavor; can be substituted with cinnamon.
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter Creates a rich dough structure; softened but not melted.
  • 1 cup Evaporated Milk Contributes moisture and creaminess; whole milk works as a substitute.
  • 1 teaspoon Coarse Salt Enhances overall flavor; sea salt can also be used.
  • 1/2 cup Warm Water Activates yeast; aim for lukewarm temperature (about 110°F).
  • 2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast Essential for leavening the dough; ensure it's fresh.
  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour Forms the dough; adjust the amount until the dough pulls away from the sides.
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream Adds moisture and tanginess; Greek yogurt can be a good replacement.
  • 2 large Eggs Provide structure and richness; beaten eggs yield better mixing results.
For the Filling
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon Optional flavoring for the filling; adds warmth.
For the Glaze
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar Sweet base for the glaze; adjust sweetness to preference.
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Orange Juice Adds zesty flavor; fresh juice enhances the tangy taste.
