Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil and grease lightly.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and ½ cup of unsalted butter. Melt in the microwave, stirring until smooth.
- Whisk in 1 cup of granulated sugar, then add 2 large room-temperature eggs one at a time until fully combined.
- Gently stir in ¾ cup of all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon of baking powder, a pinch of salt, and 1 tablespoon of green liquid food coloring until just combined.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and bake for 44 to 48 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack for 2 hours.
- Beat together 8 ounces of softened cream cheese and ½ cup of softened butter until smooth. Gradually add in 2 cups of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Once cool, use the foil to lift brownies from the pan, frost evenly on top, and cut into 16 squares.
