- Prepare the Spice Rub: In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, kosher salt, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and chili powder. Mix well until all the ingredients are blended together.
- Season the Chicken: Pat the boneless, skinless chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Drizzle avocado oil over the chicken and rub it in. Sprinkle the spice rub generously over the thighs.
- Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill to medium-high, aiming for around 400°F (200°C). Oil the grates with a paper towel soaked in cooking oil.
- Grill the Chicken: Place the seasoned chicken thighs on the grates. Grill for 5-6 minutes on the first side until nice char marks appear. Flip and grill for another 5-6 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Apply the BBQ Sauce: During the last 2-3 minutes of grilling, brush your BBQ sauce over the chicken thighs.
- Let the Chicken Rest: Remove the grilled chicken thighs and place them on a plate. Cover loosely with foil and let them rest for about 5 minutes.

Notes
For best results, marinate chicken with spice rub for at least 30 minutes, use a meat thermometer, and allow resting after grilling.
