  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted Irish Butter Provides richness and moisture; substitute with regular unsalted butter if needed.
  • 2 cups Unbleached All-Purpose Flour Forms the structure of the bread; no substitutions recommended.
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar Adds a hint of sweetness; omit for a less sweet flavor profile.
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder Provides leavening to ensure the bread rises; ensure it’s fresh for best results.
  • 1 teaspoon Fine Salt Enhances overall flavor; adjust based on personal taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Adds aromatic flavor; fresh garlic can be used for a bolder taste.

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 loaf pan with melted unsalted Irish butter.
  2. Melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted Irish butter in a small saucepan over low heat, then set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of unbleached all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of fine salt, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon of onion powder.
  4. Stir in 1 cup of shredded Irish cheddar cheese until well-coated with the flour mixture.
  5. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in 1 cup of Irish beer, folding gently until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan, spreading evenly.
  7. Drizzle the remaining melted butter over the batter in the loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Mix together additional melted butter, fresh parsley, garlic powder, and a pinch of fine salt to make the garlic butter topping.
  10. Brush the garlic butter topping generously on the warm bread immediately after baking.
  11. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
