- In a medium saucepan, add 2 cups of whole milk and 1 cup of heavy cream. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring gently until it begins to bubble around the edges, about 5 minutes.
- Once bubbling, lower the heat to medium and whisk in ½ cup of sugar and 1 cup of white chocolate chips. Continue whisking for 2-3 minutes until melted and smooth.
- Remove from heat. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and desired amount of red food coloring. Mix well for about a minute.
- Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with whipped cream, mini marshmallows, or crushed peppermints.
