- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 15x10-inch or 9x13-inch baking pan.
- Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl, then cool for about 10 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- Combine the melted butter with 3/4 cup of light brown sugar and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, then mix in 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Press the cookie dough into the prepared baking pan and sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips over the top.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow to cool in the pan for about 30 minutes before slicing into squares.
