Preparation Steps
- Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat (375°F to 400°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, finely chopped red onion, and olive oil.
- Sprinkle in the chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt and black pepper. Stir well.
- Crack an egg into the mixture and mix until fully combined.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about ¾ inch thick.
- Place the patties on the preheated grill and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on each side until golden brown and an internal temperature of 165°F is reached.
- Toast the whole wheat hamburger buns on the grill for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Assemble the burgers with salsa, grilled turkey patty, sliced avocado, and fresh cilantro.
