Cake Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x9 inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, sift together flour, matcha powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then add eggs and vanilla and mix well.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture alternately with buttermilk, mixing until just combined.
- Pour batter into the pan and bake for 38-42 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cake cool in the pan for 30 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the matcha soak by mixing matcha powder with warm water, then combine with milk and condensed milk.
- Poke holes in the cooled cake and slowly pour the matcha soak over it for absorption.
- Beat together frosting ingredients until smooth, then frost the cooled cake generously.
- Slice into 16 pieces and serve.
