Step-by-Step Instructions
- Remove your whole turkey from the fridge and allow it to sit at room temperature for about one hour.
- Drain any excess moisture from the cavity, pat it dry with paper towels, and generously season with salt and pepper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine softened unsalted butter with the chopped fresh herbs and minced garlic.
- Mash the mixture together using a fork until well blended and creamy.
- Stuff the halved lemon, fresh herb sprigs, and broken cloves of garlic into the turkey cavity.
- Generously rub the garlic herb butter all over the turkey, covering all sides except the underside.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F, place the turkey in a roasting pan, then reduce the temperature to 350°F.
- Roast for approximately 13 minutes per pound, or about 3 hours for a 14-pound turkey.
- Once the turkey reaches the desired internal temperature of 165°F, carefully transfer it to a cutting board and allow it to rest for at least 20 minutes.
- Reserve drippings in the pan for gravy.
