Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a rolling boil over medium heat. Once boiling, add half of the fresh mint leaves and immediately turn off the heat. Allow the mint to steep in the hot water for 5 minutes, then strain into a heatproof container for cooling.
- Place the green tea bags into the hot mint infusion and steep for an additional 3 minutes. After steeping, remove the tea bags, and pour in 1 cup of cold water to cool the mixture faster. Refrigerate the infusion until ready to use.
- Prepare your serving glasses by cutting 1 lime into 8 wedges for each glass. Place the lime wedges in each glass along with 1½ tablespoons of sugar.
- Add a few mint leaves on top of the sugar and lime in each glass. Using a muddler, gently press down to release the juices from the lime and the fragrance from the mint.
- Fill each glass with ice cubes to the brim. Slowly pour the chilled mint green tea over the ice, allowing the liquid to mix with the muddled lime and mint. Garnish with leftover lime slices and mint leaves.
- For a larger batch, double the ingredient quantities. In a large pitcher, steep the mixture as you did before for 5 minutes, but add 4 green tea bags. Strain and refrigerate until ready to serve.
