  • 1 pack Fresh Pizza Dough Acts as the pizza base; feel free to use gluten-free dough or pre-made crusts.
  • 1 cup Canned Pumpkin Puree The unique sauce base that brings creaminess; fresh pumpkin can be used.
For the Toppings
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion Provides sweetness from caramelization; shallots are a substitute.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Cloves Enhances aroma and flavor; garlic powder can work in a pinch.
  • 1 cup Freshly Grated Gouda Cheese Offers a creamy, nutty taste; mozzarella or vegan cheese are alternatives.
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt Balances flavors and brings out sweetness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes Optional; adds heat.

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for Pumpkin and Gouda Pizza
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onion and cook for 7-10 minutes until soft. Reduce to low and cook for 20-30 minutes until golden. Add minced garlic and optional red pepper flakes in the last 5 minutes.
  2. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out the pizza dough into a 12-14 inch round and transfer to parchment paper. Pierce dough with a fork.
  3. Spread canned pumpkin puree onto the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Evenly distribute the caramelized onions and sprinkle gouda cheese on top.
  4. Slide the pizza onto the preheated stone or baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
  5. Remove from oven and cool for a couple of minutes. Optionally sprinkle with parsley before slicing into 8 pieces. Serve warm.
