Ingredients

For the Syrup
  • 2 cups Fresh Strawberries Frozen strawberries are a good substitute if fresh aren't available.
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar For a lighter taste, consider using a sugar substitute.
  • 1 cup Water Using filtered water elevates flavor.
For the Tea
  • 3-4 bags Black Tea Bags You can also explore green or decaffeinated varieties.
  • 1/4 cup Lemon Juice Fresh juice is preferable, but bottled will work in a pinch.
For Serving
  • as needed Ice Cubes Use larger cubes to slow dilution.
  • as needed Mint and Sliced Strawberries Optional garnishes for added visual appeal.

Equipment

  • Medium Saucepan
  • large pitcher

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Make Strawberry Syrup: Wash and slice 2 cups of fresh strawberries. In a medium saucepan, combine strawberries with 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 cup water. Cook over medium heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until it reduces to a syrupy consistency. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, discard solids, and allow to cool completely.
  2. Brew the Tea: Bring 2 cups of filtered water to a rolling boil. Remove from heat and add 3-4 black tea bags. Let it steep for 5 minutes. Stir in 1/4 cup sugar until dissolved and let cool to room temperature.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a large pitcher, pour the cooled strawberry syrup, add brewed tea, and stir gently. Pour in 2 cups of cold water with the juice of one freshly squeezed lemon. Stir until combined.
  4. Serve and Garnish: Fill glasses with ice cubes and gently pour the iced tea mixture over the ice. Garnish with mint leaves and slices of fresh strawberries.
