Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, Chinese five-spice powder, and sesame oil.
- Transfer the chicken thighs into a resealable plastic bag and pour half of the prepared marinade over them. Seal the bag tightly and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- Store the remaining marinade in the fridge.
- Remove the marinated chicken from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Arrange the marinated chicken thighs on a lined baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
- Pour the reserved marinade into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Brush the cooked chicken with the thickened marinade and broil for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Let the Char Siu Chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
