Method

Directions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 9x13 inch baking dish by lightly greasing it.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, then cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add more olive oil if necessary, and sauté the diced yellow onion and fresh green beans for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add sliced cremini mushrooms and minced garlic, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Sprinkle ¼ cup of all-purpose flour over the sautéed vegetables, stirring for about 2 minutes, then whisk in 2 cups of chicken broth followed by 1 cup of whole milk.
  6. Simmer the mixture for 5-7 minutes until thickened and creamy.
  7. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, followed by soy sauce and umami mushroom seasoning. Stir to combine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and mix in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Transfer to the prepared baking dish, sprinkle more cheese on top, and add fried onions.
  9. Cover and bake for 20-25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 6-8 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool for about 5-10 minutes before serving.
