Step-by-Step Instructions for Irresistible Sweet and Sour Chicken
  1. Cut boneless, skinless chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add seasoned chicken pieces and sauté for 5-7 minutes until golden brown. Remove chicken and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add more oil if needed, then toss in minced garlic and chopped bell peppers. Sauté for about 3 minutes until peppers are tender and garlic is fragrant.
  4. Whisk together soy sauce, ketchup, rice vinegar, sugar, and cornstarch mixed with water in a bowl. Pour into the skillet with sautéed veggies.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Stir well over medium heat for about 5 minutes until sauce thickens.
