  • 2 cans Crescent Rolls Can use puff pastry if crescent rolls are unavailable.
  • 4 Apples (Golden Delicious or Granny Smith) Peel, core, and cut into quarters.
For the Topping
  • 1/2 cup Butter Unsalted butter is preferred.
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar Can use granulated sugar, but brown sugar adds moisture.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Pure vanilla extract is best.
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon Pumpkin spice can be used for a seasonal twist.
For the Sauce
  • 1 cup Soda (7-Up or similar) Consider using diet soda or flavored seltzer.

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel, core, and cut the apples into quarters.
  3. Unroll the crescent roll dough and wrap each apple quarter snugly in the dough.
  4. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter, then stir in brown sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
  5. Pour the sauce evenly over the dumplings in the baking dish.
  6. Carefully pour lemon soda around the dumplings, avoiding soaking them.
  7. Bake for about 40 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving warm, ideally with ice cream or whipped cream.
