Method
 

Preparation
  1. Trim the tops and bottoms off the small onions, then slice a deep crosscut pattern into each onion about 1/4 inch apart.
  2. Rinse the cut onions gently to remove loose layers, then place them in a bowl of iced water for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In one bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, paprika, and salt. In another bowl, place your bread crumbs.
  4. Remove the soaked onions and shake off excess water, then dredge them in the flour mixture, followed by the bread crumbs.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for about 5 minutes, then place coated onions in the basket without overcrowding.
  6. Lightly spray the onions with oil and air fry for 12-18 minutes until golden-brown and crispy.
  7. Remove from the air fryer and let cool slightly before serving with your favorite dipping sauce.
