Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9-inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter and bittersweet chocolate together in a saucepan over low heat.
  3. Stir in sugar and then add eggs one at a time, mixing until glossy.
  4. Fold in flour, vanilla extract, and salt until just combined.
  5. Spread the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
  6. While cooling, dissolve gelatin in cold water and whip 1 cup of cream until soft peaks form.
  7. Mix in the melted chocolate and then the gelatin to create the filling.
  8. Spread the chocolate filling over the cooled brownies and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  9. Cut into squares, serve chilled, and optionally top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
